I’m feeling a bit nostalgic so I wanted to post some amazing pictures from my time in the bay area last summer when I was interning. I never got around to it last year, so this year can’t hurt.
Last summer every weekend was awesome because it was a different hike, trip, or exciting moment with a pretty solid group of friends. And even when it wasn’t a weekend, there’s still a lot to do because work end at 5 as an intern!
First week Matt, Cory, and I looked for a place called Windy Hill. Somehow we got lost and found a place called “Coal Creek Reserve” with almost no yelp reviews or documentation on the internet. Hikes in general probably don’t have a lot of yelp reviews now that I think about it.
Highly recommended. It’s an interesting trail that has a lot of splitting directions but it was good none-the-less.
The next day I went to Mission Peak with my friend Brian from UW. I think we hiked up the backside of Mission Peak and got to see a lot of crazy rolling hills. The Coal Creek Reserve was on the west-side of the bay and you could essentially see a lot of South bay but on Mission Peak you could see everything….
I think in mid-July, Matt and I decided we wanted to go to San-Luis Obispo. The rest of the group followed the next day after they realized how bored the weekend was actually going to turn out. Matt goes to Cal-Poly and started renting out his new home early on in the summer and so this was the first time he was checking it out.
Eventually we hiked up Bishop peak right before sunset the next day and got one of the best sunset views I’ve ever seen.
The next weekend after this one I decided to drive down to LA to see my friend Kevin who was interning down in Irvine. The drive was a pretty decent experience itself even though I was alone. Six hours of a drive that some people even take as a commute. But eventually after a fun weekend mostly on Huntington beach, Kevin showed me a viewpoint for trying some more long exposure photography.
Overall a pretty good summer!
